Sports Physicals Performed on a Walk-in Basis at South Tampa Immediate Care

Walk-in Sports Physicals Tampa FLAt South Tampa Immediate Care, we know that school-age children who play sports need the active support of their parents, and this can sometimes tax a family’s schedule. By offering sports physicals and other health care services on a walk-in basis, we can make it easier for you to take care of your family’s non-emergency medical needs. We’re available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. This can be particularly helpful for “sports parents” who often find themselves needing to be in two places at once. In fact, many of our patients get their required sports physicals out of the way while they’re out and about in South Tampa for other reasons.

What do sports physicals involve?

At South Tampa Immediate Care, our team includes board-certified and board-eligible physicians and other medical professionals who have extensive experience in treating children, teens, and young adults. When performing walk-in sports physicals, we thoroughly review each patient’s medical history and evaluate several key indicators of his or her health, such as:

  • Height and weight
  • Heart and lung function
  • Blood pressure
  • Ears, nose, and throat appearance
  • Posture
  • Reflexes
  • Joint flexibility
  • Vision
  • Hearing

Walk-in sports physicals sometimes reveal the need for an X-ray, blood test, or urinalysis. If we recommend one of these tests for your child, you won’t necessarily have to make a separate trip to a testing center. Our office is equipped with a clinical lab and X-ray machine, allowing us to perform many basic diagnostic tests on site.

Some people think a sports physical is a waste of time, but these exams actually serve an important purpose – to confirm that a child is healthy enough to safely participate in his or her favorite activities. If you have any questions about our walk-in sports physicals or other non-emergency health care services, contact or visit South Tampa Immediate Care. We can see you and your child as soon as today.
