Ortho-Cyclen (Sprintec) Birth Control Is Available at Our Walk-In Clinic in Tampa, FL

South Tampa Immediate Care is pleased to offer Ortho-Cyclen (Sprintec) to our patients in Tampa, Florida. This combined oral contraceptive for women contains both estrogen and progesterone, and because it is a monophasic form of birth control, all active pills contain the same dose of hormones.

Sprintec comes in a 28-day pack with 21 active pills of the same color, and seven placebo pills of a different color, which makes them easy to distinguish. One active pill is taken daily for 21 days, then one placebo pill is taken daily for the remaining seven days. When taken at the same time every day, Sprintec can effectively prevent pregnancy.

How Does Sprintec Work?

The two hormones contained in each active birth control pill work together to prevent pregnancy by:

  • Stopping the ovaries from releasing eggs
  • Changing the consistency of the mucus in the cervix to make it more difficult for sperm to enter the uterus
  • Changing the texture of the uterine lining to make it more difficult for a fertilized egg to implant

Is Sprintec a Good Option for You?

An experienced healthcare provider at South Tampa Immediate Care can help you decide if Sprintec is right for you. The cost of your initial consultation will be $129 plus $25 for the medication if you choose to use it. We will hold your prescription on file and you can pick up your refill each month for $25. You can also opt to purchase five months of medication and receive the sixth month free (a six-month supply must be dispensed and purchased at one time).

If you have questions about Sprintec birth control, contact or visit South Tampa Immediate Care today. Our walk-in clinic is conveniently located at 602 S. Howard Ave. in Tampa, FL.
